Local Grove Origin Story
Local Grove is owner-operated cannabis company with deep roots in Michigan’s cannabis community. The founders’ journey into the cannabis industry began long before the state’s 2008 Medical Marijuana Program (MMMP) was enacted. As former Michigan Caregivers, the owners have always been passionate about cultivating high-quality cannabis and serving the needs of the local community.
In 2015, the owners took a significant step forward when they purchased a building in Harrison Township, Michigan, and secured the city’s approval to operate a grow under the MMMP. This would eventually become the Home of Local Grove.
In December 2016, the state of Michigan passed the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licenses Act (MMFLA), which created a more formalized system for the licensing, regulation, and tracking of medical cannabis. After years of persistence and dedication, the founders were awarded a state license in 2019, officially marking the birth of Local Grove.
The journey didn’t stop there. In 2020, Michigan legalized cannabis for recreational use under the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA), and Local Grove was one of the first businesses to be granted a license under the new system.
In the same year, Local Grove expanded by acquiring a second property in Harrison Township. Renovations were completed by late 2021, increasing the company’s cultivation space to meet the growing demand for their premium cannabis products.
